Team Mission: To inspire, teach, develop and offer SO athletics the opportunity to learn fundamental skills of basketball while instilling values such as team work, hard work and sportsmanship.

Location- St. Michaels Catholic School gym
Recreational team- 7 to 8pm October 6th to April 15th
Focus on skill building with drills, practice shooting, passing and working as a team, prepare for end of year skills competition and play in fun basketball games.
Competitive team- 8 to 9pm October 6th to April 15th
Play in a team environment , learn new skills and work on your weaknesses, important to be dedicated to the team and be fully engaged to learn in practice. Prepare for games vs other competitive teams.
* Important to note that this is the first year for the competitive basketball team so if you're interested and know other Athletes that would enjoy this please let them know.

Sport Status
Basketball is a sport that is recognized at all levels of Special Olympics. Athletes can compete in club level matches right up to SOI World Games.
Sport Season
Basketball is a Spring sport for SOO, the season usually runs from October to May. For National and World games Basketball participates in the Summer Games.
Athlete to Coach Ratios
The ratios are minimum athlete to coach requirements for not only Conference competitions, Provincial, and National Games, but for all Special Olympics Ontario competitions and practices. They ensure that athletes are safe and supervised at all times.
